Monday, June 13 - 1:00PM: Julia Jackson Phillips Memorial Service - Poling Chapel - Reception in Assembly Hall
Julia Jackson Phillips, 97, of Kingsway Arms Nursing Center died Monday, June 6th.
Born in DePeyster ,NY on November 7, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Harlow & Flossie Hurlbut Jackson. She grew up on a dairy farm in northern NY. Julia married Worth S. Phillips in 1936. They moved to Auburn, NY in 1947 where Julia worked for JC Penney and later as a proof reader for the Citizen Advertizer Newspaper.In Auburn, she was active in Trinity Methodist Church, Home Bureau, Fire Auxillary , and RSVP(Retired Senior Volunteer Program). Julia was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and New York State Grange. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting and bowling. She especially enjoyed knitting mittens for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sewing them doll clothes and traveling with her sister, Eleanor.
Survivors include her son, Richard(Ruthellen) of Schenectady, granddaughters Ellen(Craig) Warsaw of Maryland and Sarah(Jonathan)Pundt of Wisconsin ; four great grandchildren, Beth & Brian Warsaw and Jackson & Anna Pundt. She is also survived by her brother, Horace(Mary) Jackson of DePeyster,NY, a niece and three nephews. Julia was also predeceased by her husband, Worth, in 1967 and her sister, Eleanor Jackson, in 2002.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 13th at 1PM in the Poling Chapel at First Reformed Church, Schenectady. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Richville, N.Y.
The family would especially like to thank the staffs of Kingsway Arms Nursing Center and the Schenectady Community Hospice for their kindnesses and care of Julia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Julia be made to The Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
