7th Day of Lent 21 Peter 3: 18-22
This passage is written by Peter improsined and persecuted for his christion faith. He was eventually executed for preaching his beliefs. He strongly believed in Christ resurrection and wanted the people to know that they would be resurrected also through the power of baptism and their belief in Christ.
We suffer likewise in this life. In th secular society, we have learned to keep our faith to ourselves. Science has questioned our faith. We don't want to appear foolish or stupid. We question our faith at times when our experences "test" our faith. How could God let a child die or be killed? Why was my husband taken so young when he was such a good man and Christian? If we "trust in God" we will be able to understand and go on. We shall all one day be together with Christ. Trials refine our faith and make it stronger.
The world is a wonderful place at times. The beauty of nature is beyond compare. The comfort of friends and family sustains us. But this world can include many trials and tribulations. Help us to be strong like Peter. Help us to voice our belief in christ and the resurrection. Give us a strong faith so that we can endure the many trials we will go through before the end of this life. Help us to "trust in God" and know that our salvation and resurrection will be there for us at the end of this life when our next life begins. For you are our rock and our redeemer. Amen
