"The Suppression of Nocturnal Religion in Ancient Rome: Plebeians, Bacchants, and Christians" Hans-Friedrich Mueller is the William D. Williams Professor of Classics and Chair of the Department at Union College. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is the author of Roman Religion in Valerius Maximus (2002), the editor of an abridgment of Edward Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire in the Modern Library Series (2003), and the translator of a forthcoming book on Roman Historiography.
