April 8, 2011 Sandra & Craig Kominoski 27th Day of Lent John 3:16 My daily trip to work takes me past a field of yellow flags. One flag for each service person killed in Iraqor Afghanistan. The field is regularly tended, grass mowed and number of dead tallied on a sign. Each one of the veterans killed was a son, a daughter, a nephew, a niece, a distinct individual loved by the Lord. I am reminded daily of John 3:16, For God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten son, in order that everyone exercising faith in Him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. I see the flags showing those who have faithfully served our country and grieve for them and their families. I pray for everlasting life for those patriotic people who have fought not only the battles but the injustices and social conditions which haunt humanity. |
