24th Day of Lent Poem
Recently I was in a play situation with my grandson. He is very creative and asked me to show him my hands. His father, my son, joined us and we played Ethan’s game about hands. Later, I was thinking about the hands of Jesus as I took Ethan’s and held them, palm up, in my own. My thoughts were of Mary, Mother of Jesus. One cannot help but wonder how she felt when she saw His hands. The Bible tells us of the hands that made the heavens which proclaim their Creator’s greatness and of the hands which held the world and every living thing in it. It tells us of Him who formed us in our Mother’s womb in which our names are written. Our times are in His hands. He guides us with his right hand and into His hands we freely commit our entire lives and ask the safe keeping of our loved ones. Anyone who knows that He is being held in these hands can be assured that He will be kept like Christ on the cross who was held there not by nails but by the Father’s hands.
