| I grew up in Minnesota, where my parents, sister, and two brothers still reside. Yes, I am the gypsy of the family; I've also lived in Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and of course, New York - and I've had something like eighteen addresses since I left home for college in 1995! That does not include a 3-month stint teaching English in Ukraine. I graduated from Drake University in 1999 with a B.A. in Religion. As a side note, I was delighted to find another Bulldog alum amongst the membership of FRC! During my year of post-college working in Des Moines, I joined an RCA church, where I was a member approximately three months before they employed me as an intern and then shipped me off to seminary. I graduated from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI in 2003, and then spent a year as a chaplain at Hanover College through a program funded by the Lilly Foundation. Most recently, I spent three years as the pastor of the Glen Reformed Church, a mere half-hour's drive from Schenectady. The job description at First Reformed Church and the opportunities for creative and meaningful ministry in Schenectady drew me here, and I'm excited to begin working with the members of this church and community. As many of you have already heard, one of my favorite things to do in my off-time is listen to and play live music. I play solo girl-with-guitar gigs from time to time, as well as performing with my band, Never Seventh. When I'm not playing, there's little I enjoy more than hearing other musicans of just about any genre. I also enjoy watching hockey, reading, writing, and playing with my dog, Laila. |
